The Parklea Winter Food Drive is on again, giving residents of the community the opportunity to donate non-perishable food items to help fill the pantries of those in need.
In its third year of operation, the annual Food Drive has even more local businesses volunteering as drop-off locations throughout the Cardinia Shire with the aim of being able to reach even more families. Residents can drop off non-perishable food items to Club Officer, Montessori Beginnings Child Care at Timbertop Estate, Cardinia Life (Aligned Leisure), Area Cafe at Arena Shopping Centre, and the Timbertop Sales Suite.
The Winter Food Drive is one of Parklea’s initiatives to help improve the quality of life of those living in and around the community. Other initiatives include the Christmas Gift Drive which provides gifts to disadvantaged children. In previous years we have seen u to 330kg’s of food being donated to those in need from our local community.
Food donations will be distributed via The 4C’s, a Pakenham-based charity that supports local families and individuals with food, shelter, counselling, training, and financial relief. The items most needed by the 4C’s are tinned fruit and vegetables, tuna cans, legumes, long-life milk, pasta sauce, dry pasta, soup, rice and other grains.
Living in a contemporary family home in the suburbs with no energy bills is now closer to reality – built by SJD Homes, you can see it at Parklea Developments’ Timbertop Estate in Officer.
In its third year of operation, the Parklea Winter Food Drive is proud to report that the generosity of the local community has helped break last year's record of 330 kilograms of donations, with 2018 collecting over 500kg of non-perishable food.
